MLK (minor league kicker)

This will be a chronicle of my life as a minor league kicker. For those of you hundreds of kickers like myself who are not in the pros. The minors is a great place to keep in shape and most importantly showcase and improve. One day you will find yourself 30 years old on an awesome team, outstanding stats, great tryout results. Than just when you think you may have a shot to go pro. Training camp starts again for your minor league team. You realize you are just a MLK (minor league kicker). This is a position I know for the first time in (six minor league seaons)I am a minor league kicker. So knowing that I work to be the best minor league kicker in the country. I did receive that title last year, however I had a lot to improve on. This year I will focus on 100% extra points, and over 85% field goals. I work hard everyday to make sure I make my last kick of the year. Last season I missed a game tying 54 yarder in the conference title game in Seattle. I learned that I wore my leg out. I was kicking over 80 kicks a practice and 60 before a game. I will not let my team down this year.

My son has been using the Power Band religiously and has noticed an increase in his distance on kickoffs, which comes in handy now that the NCAA has decreed that kickoffs will be from the 30 yard line. Thanks for everything and keep up the good work!

Doug and Tommy's Frequently Asked Questions: "I can kick a ball 55 yards with the ball with good height, placed on the ground (in field goal position, not a tee). Does that mean anything as to how I could perform with a line in front of me, like a game situation?" -- Click here to read our answer
